Sofiya’s Mercado is dedicated to bring you a variety of Fair Trade goods from different countries across the globe. We are a Green website that operates from a small house near the N. California Coast.

Not only do we offer a variety of Fair Trade products we also offer Organic Health and Beauty Goods from small manufactures.

Sofiya’s Mercado is the brain child of three like-minded individuals who have individually brought forth their creativity and talents in hopes of offering a fair price to those who manufacture their goods out of their homes.

We work to create easy access to those who want to purchase Fair Trade Goods at affordable prices.

A percentage of sales go to charity. Currently the charity that receives money from us is the Grand Ducal Council of San Francisco, which is a 501 C3.

Sofiya is someone who is indeed special to all of us. She is a fun-loving person who spends the great deal of her time raising money for charitable organizations in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Because of her hard work and commitment we are truly inspired. We set up Sofiya’s Mercado and offer these Eco Friendly products in her spirit.

He earned a Bachelors degree in International Relations from University of California at Davis with a focus in Third World Development in 2000. Two years later he entered the Masters Degree program at San Francisco State University in International Relations. There his emphasis was Globalization and the effect it has on people in developing countries. He completed his Masters in 2005 and shortly began work in public schools working with youths with special needs. He has also spent a considerable amount of time raising money for charities in San Francisco, California over the last several years.

During his time at UC Davis he was exposed to the idea of Fair Trade prices for goods coming from South American growers and artisans. His education in international economies helped him in coming to a greater understanding of the effects Cottage Industries have on their local communities and the need to offer artisans a fair price. Steve is the sole proprietor of Sofiya’s Mercado. By creating this website it is his sincere hope to promote Fair Trade to those who shop on the Internet.
